Structural Steel
Once the opening is cut, the steel keeps the building doing its job. Stripout Bros handles structural steel supply and installation alongside demolition so beams, lintels and posts go in cleanly, safely and in the right sequence.
What We Install
Our steel division is built around the structural elements that keep new openings stable and compliant, whether it’s a single span in a home or multiple beams in a commercial job.
01
Beams for Wall Openings
Supply and installation of structural steel beams to carry loads across new openings and remove reliance on the original wall.
02
Lintels and Headers
Smaller steel sections that support doorways, window openings and partial structural changes.
03
Posts and Columns
Vertical steel members that transfer load down to foundations when walls are removed or reconfigured.
04
Connection Plates and Brackets
The plates, angles and brackets that tie steel back into existing structure in a controlled way.
05
Temporary Steelwork Where Required
Short-term steel support solutions when the project needs staged works or multi-step structural changes.
06
Builder-Ready Handover
We finish steel install with clear bearing points and tidy connections so framing and finishing trades can follow on confidently.
Our Process
Steel and demolition have to talk to each other. Our process makes sure the opening, support and install all line up so the job stays safe and predictable.
01
Coordinate with Engineering
We review the structural design, opening details and connection requirements before steel is ordered.
02
Plan the Sequence
We align steel install with demolition staging so support is in place when the wall comes out and the new beam takes load at the right moment.
03
Install and Tie In
Our crew installs beams, posts and connections using methods suited to the site, access and surrounding structure.
04
Check and Hand Over
We confirm bearing, connections and alignment, then hand the opening back ready for framing, lining and finishes.

Projects We Support
01
Residential Openings
Kitchen, living and extension openings where a beam replaces a brick or block wall in homes and apartments.
02
Commercial & Office Refits
For owners who want to understand what is involved before opening up a structural wall or changing a layout.
03
Industrial & Warehouse Works
Openings and alterations around racking, machinery and structural walls in industrial environments.
04
Multi-Stage Structural Changes
Jobs that involve several openings or staged works where steel has to be installed in a controlled sequence.
SAFETY & INSTALLATION CONTROLS
Safety First on Every Job: Keep Your Site Protected
Steel is only as safe as the way it’s handled and installed. We put controls around lifting, positioning and tying in so people, structure and finishes stay protected.
01
Safe Handling and Lifts
We plan lifts, access and handling around site constraints so beams and posts move safely into position.
02
Correct Bearing and Seating
Steel is set on the right supports with proper bearing length and packers so loads are transferred cleanly.
03
Secure Connections
Bolts, welds or plates are fixed in line with engineering intent and site conditions, not improvised.
04
Clean Work Zone
We manage cutting, drilling and waste so the site around the steel install remains tidy and safe for other trades.
FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
Steel often raises extra questions, especially around timing, engineering and scope. Here are the common ones.
Still have questions?
We’re here to help you!
What steel beams do you install?
We install universal beams (UBs), universal columns (UCs), and custom steel solutions sized to your engineer's specifications. Every beam is fabricated and certified to Australian Standards.
Who designs the steel?
Our structural engineers design and specify every beam based on the loads identified in the engineering assessment. Nothing is installed without certified drawings.
Can you install steel only, without demolition?
Yes, if you already have an opening or engineering in place, we can supply and install the steel component as a standalone service.
Are all steel beams certified?
Yes, every beam we supply comes with material certification and is installed in line with the engineer's design and Australian Standards.
How are beams lifted into place?
Depending on size and access, beams are installed using chain blocks, gantries, or small cranes. We select the safest method for your site conditions.
Can you install posts and columns as well?
Yes, we install any supporting posts or columns required by the engineering design, including base plates and connections.
What finishes are available for exposed steel?
Steel can be left raw for cladding, primed for painting, or finished to match your interior design. We'll discuss options during the design stage.
Do you weld on-site?
Yes, our qualified team carries out on-site welding and connections where required, all completed to structural certification standards.
